MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Police say an 82-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a man who was allegedly assaulted in a long-term care home in Mississauga, Ont.
Peel Regional Police say the incident happened in November, when 79-year-old Keith Wood fell to the ground after being struck.
They say Wood suffered blunt force trauma to the head and was taken to hospital.

Two weeks later, he died of his injuries.
Investigators say Arnold Kendall was charged with manslaughter on Tuesday.
Both the victim and the accused were residents of the home.

Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care released a statement Wednesday saying it’s investigating and it will release the results publicly.
“The ministry takes incidents involving the injury or death of a resident very seriously and conducts an immediate inspection if we receive information that there is serious harm, or risk of serious harm, to a resident. Ministry inspectors have conducted an inspection in relation to this incident,” spokesman David Jensen told Global News.
“The care, dignity and safety of residents living in long-term care (LTC) homes in Ontario remains a top priority for the government, and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is committed to protecting residents and enhancing the quality of life in LTC homes.”
