MONTREAL – Lawyers representing the Montreal police officer who became known simply as “Matricule 728” in recent months say as long as the film company producing an X-rated movie loosely based on their client is willing to change a few small details, they see no problem with the film being released.
Among the things Stéfanie Trudeau’s lawyers want to see altered is the title of the pornographic flick, currently “Agent 728 XXX”, and visuals of the lead actress’s (fake) badge, which is a Toronto police badge bearing the number 728.
A scene depicting the actress approaching a man seated outside a building drinking beer must also be removed, Trudeau’s lawyers say, because it’s a clear reference to a recent incident involving Trudeau.
Trudeau had originally wanted the film’s release blocked completely. It had been scheduled to premiere this month at Le Belmont. A temporary injunction prevented that from happening.
The judge hearing the case Monday advised both parties that it would be best to come to a speedy agreement, rather than dragging out arguments over several days.
The hearing took a short recess on Monday afternoon as they discussed a possible compromise.
