One man was killed and four others were taken to hospital after a crash involving a stolen vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway Wednesday morning.
EMS said a call came in at about 7:15 a.m. for a single-vehicle crash. Paramedics said it appeared an SUV left Highway 1, just west of Strathmore, and ended up on the north side of the road.
“Witnesses report the vehicle was travelling at high speeds prior to losing control and rolling,” Strathmore RCMP said in a statement, adding it had been reported stolen out of Calgary.
EMS had no further details on the condition of the patients Wednesday morning.
Strathmore RCMP said three were taken to Foothills Medical Centre and one was taken to Strathmore hospital.
Highway 1 was reduced to a single eastbound lane as of as 11 a.m. as RCMP collision analysts investigated.
