Kerry Mudd, who had never bought a ticket before, got her $4 ticket from an Okotoks Shoppers Drug Mart and couldn’t believe she was the winner.

“I still can’t believe it’s true,” she said in a statement from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

Mudd won the game’s biggest prize, $1,000 per day for life, and chose to take it as a one-time payment of $7 million.

“I’d like to do some travelling,” she said in the release. “I’ve always wanted to go to Italy.”

Mudd is the second winner since the Daily Grand game launched in October. An Edmonton resident previously won the Nov. 10 draw.

Lottery tickets can be checked using the WCLC’s lottery manager app, at a local lottery retailer or by phoning the WCLC at 1-800-665-3313.
