During the holidays, it isn’t often we hear the word “abortion” in the same sentence as the word “Christmas”, yet Whoopi Goldberg somehow managed it — and is paying the price on social media.
On Tuesday’s edition of The View, Goldberg was discussing America’s constitutional separation of church and state when it comes to public Nativity scenes, abruptly shifting the conversation by equating the argument to the pro-life vs. freedom of choice debate, comparing “the same conversation with a woman’s right to choose.”

Goldberg became emotional during the argument. “What I do with my body is my right. It is not your right to tell me. The same thing is it’s — if you believe in Christmas, it’s not my right… and, you know, kids who didn’t go to Catholic school had Christmas and they — we never knew what their religions were, but we hung cause it was Christmas holiday.”
While the argument does support her point, the notion of comparing Christmas to abortion did not go over well in the Twitterverse, with numerous people of a decidedly conservative bent taking Goldberg to task for the comparison:
