UPDATE: Saskatoon Transit labour dispute over, ATU 615 votes to accept contract offer

A Saskatoon Transit union vote Tuesday on a tentative contract agreement with the city will hopefully end ongoing bus route disruptions, according to a member of a local advocacy group.

“Having the dispute resolved would mean that riders can finally have dependable transit or at least moving towards more dependable transit,” Mairi Anderson, a spokesperson for Bus Riders of Saskatoon, said Tuesday.

“All we can go off of is having a hope that it will be resolved today.”

Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 615 reached a tentative agreement with the city last Friday. The group has been without a contract since 2012 and is currently undertaking job action that has led to transit bus route disruptions.

An ATU official indicated that the results of the vote were expected Tuesday night.

Details around the tentative agreement have not been released.
