B.C. Health Minister Terry Lake will be touring a new mobile medical unit in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside today.
Slated to being operating on Tuesday, the new medical unit will provide emergency care to overdose patients as Vancouver’s opiate crisis continues.
Later this afternoon, federal Health Minister Jane Philpott and Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale are expected to introduce new measures that will reduce the red tape for new safe injection sites.
The opening follows an announcement last week of new overdose prevention sites opening in high-risk areas across B.C.
