It’s been a very cold and snowy night for two skiers who went out-of-bounds on Cypress Mountain Sunday. They have now been rescued.

North Shore Rescue says it had no choice but to leave the skiers overnight because it was just too dangerous to rescue them yesterday.

The skiers went into a treacherous avalanche-prone area called Tony Baker Gully. When they became trapped they called to be rescued.

“The weather is going to improve tomorrow and we’re going to be able to fly them out,” said Don Jardine from North Shore Rescue. “So at this point, we’re going to ask them to spend the night and get ready for a helicopter first thing in the morning.”

North Shore Rescue says the skiers are from B.C. and are known to have gone out-of-bounds before.
