2 in custody following alleged Saskatoon home invasion

Saskatoon police have two people in custody following an alleged home invasion in Saskatoon.

Police were initially called to a report of a home invasion Friday evening in the 200-block of Avenue I South where a firearm was reportedly shown. Further investigation led officers to the second residence.

Officials announced at 11:40 a.m. CT on Saturday that the situation involving a heavy police presence in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood was resolved.

Members of patrol and tactical units had been at a residence in the 500-block of Avenue S South since Friday evening.

Traffic restrictions were put in place and residents in the area were asked to remain inside.

Police said the situation was resolved peacefully and two women, ages 24 and 32, were arrested. No injuries were reported.

Officers remain at the scene while a residence is searched.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Traffic restrictions have been lifted.
