It was a short night for Youppi! who was in Global Montreal studios at the crack of dawn Friday, fresh off a Habs win at the Bell Centre Thursday night.

Youppi! was still pumped over his team’s 5-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils as he settled in for his gig as morning news guest host.

Which was your best day ever?

Every day there’s a game is the best day ever for Youppi!, according to personal assistant Jonathan Mailhot. Youppi!– with the characteristic enthusiasm he’s known for — nodded in agreement.

Pumping up the crowd, and meeting mini-Youppi! for the pregame show are some of the things he enjoys most. But he did “say” he gets quite a kick out of going trick-or-treating every year with one lucky fan.

Youppi strives to be the best sixth player he can be for every game and is especially looking forward to the NHL all-star weekend.

What is it about the all-star game that has you excited?

This season’s all-star game will take place in Los Angeles at the end of January and aside from great hockey, it’s a chance for Youppi! to shine, Mailhot explained.

“All 26 mascots will face off for four days of fierce but friendly competition,” Mailhot said.

The competition can include balloon relays, tug of war and leap frog, to name a few.

And while Youppi! likes to put his best foot forward, everyone has a bad day once in a while?

What was your most embarrassing moment?

Youppi! dropped his head in shame as Mailhot brought up the infamous 2014 bet against Jimmy Fallon — a bet Youppi! lost.

After the Montreal Canadiens lost the best of seven in the Eastern Conference playoff finals to the New York Rangers, Youppi! was spotted at iconic Montreal landmarks sporting a Rangers, jersey.

It was a tough pill for the mascot to swallow but Youppi! showed great sportsmanship and kept his word.

What’s the toughest part of your job?

Like any other celebrity, Youppi! sometimes struggles with the pressures of being a public persona, namely the loss of anonymity it entails.

“The days can be long, Mailhot said. “He’s so well-known, so whenever he steps out, it’s hard to hide him.”

That being said, Youppi! thrives on attention and doesn’t shy away from entertaining the crowds.

Mailhot even said, Youppi! was available for bookings via the Canadiens website, for various organization including foundations and different businesses.
