A teen charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 16-year-old Regina girl has been denied bail.
Hannah Leflar, a Grade 11 student, was found stabbed to death in her home on Jan. 12, 2015, just a few blocks away from her school, Thom Collegiate.
The 18-year-old’s first trial on the charge ended in a mistrial after Justice Lian Schwann sent the jury home due to new evidence in the case.

Due to a publication ban, the reasons behind the decision for the mistrial cannot and will not be revealed in order to keep the next jury impartial.
The teen’s new trial is to begin in February and is expected to last two weeks.
The other youth who attacked Leflar with the knife already pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder charge in April.
