Halifax man accused of choking, sexually assaulting woman

Halifax Regional Police have charged a 28-year-old man with a slew of offences, including sexual assault.

Officers received a call Wednesday around 5:15 a.m., from a woman who said she was being sexually assaulted by a man in north end Dartmouth.

Police say the man and woman met shortly before the alleged assault. They went to a coffee shop and then a nearby residence, where investigators say the incident took place.

The only information being released about the victim is that it’s a woman in her twenties.

Pablo Moises Alas, 28, of Fall River, N.S., is accused of aggravated sexual assault, uttering threats to cause death or grievous bodily harm and choking. He appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Thursday.
