RCMP investigate attempted child luring in Lac La Biche

RCMP in Lac La Biche are investigating a report of attempted child luring that occurred on Thursday Dec. 1 near Lakeview Crescent.

Police were notified of the incident the following day.

“A suspicious male driving in a vehicle pulled over and asked a young girl to get into the vehicle while she was walking to a grocery store,” RCMP said. “The girl refused and the male fled the area.”

The suspect is described as:

  • Aboriginal or Asian male with tanned skin
  • Approximately 30-40 years old
  • Short black thin hair
  • Dark eyes with bags underneath
  • Very skinny build
  • Wearing a black shell jacket

The suspect vehicle is described as:

  • 4 door older silver car (possibly a Honda or Toyota)
  • Loud engine
  • Tinted back windows
  • Spoiler or fin on the trunk
  • Grey fuzzy seats inside

RCMP have commended the girl for refusing to approach the vehicle and for telling her family what happened.

Officers are using this incident to remind parents and caregivers of the importance of discussing such scenarios at home to education children about safety.
