Pedestrian in hospital after collision with vehicle in Verdun

A 34-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Wellington Street in Verdun.

The collision happened at 9 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Hickson and Wellington streets.

According to Montreal police,the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was heading south on Hickson Street and attempted to turn left onto Wellington Street on a green light when the pedestrian was struck.

Police said the victim, a 34-year-old woman, was also crossing against a green light.

The pedestrian was making her way northbound on the eastern side of the intersection when “she ended up under the truck,” said Montreal police spokesperson, Daniel Lacoursière.

In a conversation with Global News, Lacoursière specified the woman was not actually pinned under the vehicle.

She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are waiting for an update on her health status.

Meanwhile police have established a perimeter at the scene of the crash.
