Barbara Still is Moise’s aunt and she helps organize an annual memorial walk for her nephew, Darian’s Walk for Peace.

“Darian was gone to early. He was just a bright, young kid. We’ll never be able to see him graduate, or have kids, or anything. His life was just cut short,” she said.

“It hurts to be here today.”

Strongquill apologized in court today, and the gesture meant a lot to Erica Allary.

“There’s no sentence that will ever be good enough for our family to bring Darian back. The apology that [Strongquill] gave in court today really meant a lot to me, and I can see that he really is remorseful,” Allary said.

“For him to plead guilty, that means a lot to our family that he’ll stand up and take responsibility.”

The family plans to hold a third walk for Darian near what would have been his 19th birthday, Sept. 17, 2017.
