A 25-year-old Windsor, Ont., man has been charged with animal cruelty after police said his dog was beaten with a piece of metal downspout.
Windsor police responded to a report of a man allegedly seen beating his dog with a metal object in the backyard of his home on Cameron Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the owner and the complainant. Police said the complainant told officers they had seen the man yelling and striking his dog with the metal downspout.
Const. Andrew Drouillard said the dog sustained minor injuries and was taken to a veterinarian. The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society informed police Thursday there would be no lasting damage to the dog.

Brian Robinet-Davey was arrested Wednesday and charged with causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal.
