Winnipeg’s annual snow route parking ban kicks in Thursday

WINNIPEG — There may not be a lot of snow on the ground, but the city’s annual snow route parking ban starts Dec.1.

The city said vehicles cannot park on designated snow routes between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Snow routes are designated along priority street for snow plowing so emergency vehicles can get around quickly and safely.

Tickets for violating the ban are $100, which can be reduced to $50 if paid early.

The city is encouraging drivers to check street signs for snow routes or call 311 if you’re unsure.
