Halifax police investigate early morning sexual assault

Halifax police are investigating a sexual assault that took place early Tuesday morning in Halifax.

Police received a report at 1:40 a.m. that a 59-year-old man had been approached by another man at approximately 1 a.m. in the 1500 block of South Park Street. Police say the second man had punched the 59-year-old in the face several times then grabbed him and touched him sexually.

The man, who had been walking in the area, was then pushed to the ground by the suspect who then ran away heading in an unknown direction. The victim walked to hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-10 white man with a slender build, short brown hair. He is approximately 30-to-40 years old. No clothing description is available.
