The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is continuing to investigate after a burned body was found in a shelter in North Vancouver Monday morning.
Police arrived at the shelter along Lynn Creek near Keith Road just before 10 a.m. and due to the conditions of the body, called in IHIT.
The victim has not been identified and IHIT Cpl. Meghan Foster said there are still many unanswered questions.
“Once the identity is known, our priority will be to notify and support the family, and attempt to piece together the events leading up to this tragic death,” Foster said in a statement.
The shelter is located in a densely wooded area along the Bridgeman North Trail and IHIT is asking anyone who was in the area last weekend to contact police.
Foster said further crime scene analysis will be needed to determine whether the homicide happened at the shelter or in another location.
