Penticton Mountie intends to plead guilty

A Penticton Mountie charged in connection with a fatal collision intends to plead guilty.

Constable Ace Jimmy Stewart is charged with driving without due care and attention under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The charge stems from an incident in September 2015 at the intersection of Highway 97 and Green Mountain Road in Penticton where Stewart’s truck struck and killed five-year-old James Christian McIntosh. The youngster was pushing his bicycle through a crosswalk when the impact occurred.

Stewart was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle at the time of the incident.

Court documents show that he intends to plead guilty on January 23, 2017.
