A Minneapolis day care worker has been charged with attempted murder after trying to hang a one-year-old at the licensed facility she owned.
Nataliia Karia, 42, has been charged with attempted murder, third-degree assault and two counts of criminal vehicular operation after attempting to hang a one-year-old at her day care, as well as hitting a pedestrian and bicyclist with her van as she fled the scene.
According to court documents, a father to one of the children at the facility was the one who saved the boy after hearing his cries from the basement.
The man also told police when he had dropped his child off at the house on the morning of Nov. 18, Karia “wasn’t acting right” and allegedly told him “she couldn’t take it anymore” and for him to “look at what she did.”
That’s when the father saved the child.
Court documents also read the unidentified victim was “hanging in the air from a noose attached to the ceiling.”

The mother to the victim told local police her child had only started going to the day care three weeks prior to the incident and had a small cold.
The pedestrian Karia is alleged to have dragged with her vehicle is currently in the burn unit at a local hospital, while the bicyclist’s leg was broken, forcing him to permanently have a metal rod in his leg.
If convicted, Karia could face up to 20 years in jail.
