Guilty plea in Salmon Arm schoolyard shooting

A Salmon Arm woman pleaded guilty on Monday to a murder she helped commit when she was just a teenager.

The plea came in Kamloops Supreme Court.

The guilty plea stems from the 2008 shooting death of 22-year-old Tyler Myers in an elementary school yard.

The woman, who cannot be named because she was 17 at the time of the crime was arrested in 2012 after an intensive sting operation by RCMP.

A 16-year-old boy was also involved in the murder was also arrested in 2012.  He went to trial, and was convicted of first-degree murder in June of this year.  He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 23.

The woman will be sentenced Dec. 5.

The crown prosecutor has asked that the judge sentence both parties as adults.
