Halifax police investigate two separate robberies in Halifax, Dartmouth

Halifax police are investigating two Wednesday robberies at Petro Canada locations in Halifax and Dartmouth.

Dartmouth robbery

Police were called to the Petro Canada at 240 Victoria Rd. at approximately 8:15 a.m.

Staff say a woman entered the station and produced a knife, then demanded cash before fleeing the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee was not injured in the incident.

Halifax Robbery

The second robbery took place at the Petro Canada at 6389 Quinpool Rd. in Halifax at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Police were informed by staff a man entered the store and produced a knife before demanding money and cigarettes. He fled on foot after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. No one was injured.

A 32-year-old man was arrested shortly after police arrived and is in custody. He is set to appear at Halifax Provincial Court on charges of robbery and weapons possession.

Officers also searched the area near the Petro Canada as part of their investigation, Power said.

He added that he could not comment if both incidents were connected as it was “still very early in the investigation.”
