Police are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.
The collision happened at around 3:15 a.m. when a vehicle heading southbound on St-Denis Street, near Gilford Street, struck a pedestrian who was crossing from east to west.
Montreal police spokesperson Daniel Lacoursière said the driver fled the scene after the collision.
Police are looking for a red vehicle with damage to the front.
According to witness reports, the pedestrian, crossed the street between intersections.
Police confirmed Sunday afternoon the victim is a 51-year-old man.
St-Denis Street was closed for several hours as collision experts investigated.
