TORONTO – A 28-year-old man and two teenage girls have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of violent home invasions, robberies and abductions.
Wendel McLean and two girls, aged 15 and 16, face 48 charges in connection with a series of gunpoint robberies that police say terrorized a west-end neighbourhood in October.
“It’s a spree. It’s a crime spree that happened in the span of 24 hours,” Police Staff Inspector Mike Earl said on Monday. “In this case, it’s a random act of violence. They went door to door systematically trying to terrorize just members of the community.”
Police say Maclean may be part of the 5-Point Generals, a violent west-end gang.
The crime spree started on the evening of October 16, when the suspects and two unidentified men went to a home near Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West.
They forced their way into the home and confined the homeowners at gunpoint.

Police allege the suspects then went through the house and tried to force their way into an apartment in the home. When the person inside the apartment refused to answer the door, the accused shot through the door and struck the person.
The victim was later taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspects allegedly robbed the people before fleeing.
