RCMP in northern Alberta are looking for three suspects after a violent home invasion in the town of Grimshaw Sunday night.
Police said four children and a 35-year-old man were in the home when three suspects broke in at around 9:30 p.m.
An altercation took place and a firearm was discharged, police said. The homeowner was assaulted before the suspects fled in a black vehicle.
“Members with the assistance from neighbouring RCMP detachments made extensive patrols of the area but the vehicle and suspects were not located,” RCMP said in a media release Monday morning.
Staff Sgt. Meyer with Peace Regional RCMP said no one was shot during the altercation. The 35-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The children were not injured in the ordeal.
Meyer did not have any information about the relationship between the children or the relationship between the children and the man.
Officers do not believe this was a random attack.
Grimshaw is located about 500 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
