Alberta woman charged with assault on a Checker Taxi Cab driver

A woman from Airdrie has been charged with assault in relation to an incident involving a taxi cab driver that happened during the early hours of Monday morning.

Mounties were called to the scene of an assault at around 2 a.m. Oct. 31 in Airdrie.

RCMP say a 28-year-old intoxicated woman passenger in a Checker Taxi Cab became belligerent and refused to leave the vehicle when asked by the driver.

Video surveillance obtained from the vehicle showed an altercation taking place, and as a result of the investigation the woman was charged with assault.

The 28-year-old has since been released from custody and is expected to appear in court on Dec. 15.

Mounties are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
