The recall was issued Friday, Nov. 4, after the tests revealed the cakes contained milk and sulphite — two ingredients, not listed on the label.

The agency is warning anyone with a milk allergy or a sensitivity to sulphites not to consume the product, as it could cause “a serious or life-threatening reaction.”

The cakes were sold in Quebec, British Columbia, Ontario and possibly nationwide, in 250g packages with UPC code 6 47406 00235 3.

The CFIA said there is no specific lot number associated with the recall, but added that any of the pineapple cakes sold without milk and sulphites listed on the label are included.

The agency recommends that anyone with a recalled product in their home either throw it out, or return it to the store where it was purchased.

There have been no reports of illnesses.
