Search and rescue operation underway for missing Alberta woman

A police search got underway Sunday for a northern Alberta woman who hasn’t been seen in 10 days.

RCMP said 22-year-old Christine Cardinal, from Saddle Lake, was reported missing Saturday by her family.

She was last seen on Thursday, Oct. 13 at around 8:30 a.m., about one kilometre north of the Bison Auto gas station in Saddle Lake.

Cardinal was last seen wearing a grey sweater and black shorts with no shoes. She is described as being an Aboriginal woman who is 5’9″ tall and 123 pounds. She has long black hair, brown eyes, a scar on right bicep and a cut on her top lip. She also has a tattoo of “ns” on her left hand.

RCMP said they began a search on Saturday. On Sunday, search and rescue, RCMP resources and RCMP Air Services joined forces to continue searching for the missing woman.

Saddle Lake is about 170 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
