Quigley was charged with second-degree murder, but attempted to plead guilty to manslaughter when his trial began.

That plea was initially rejected by the prosecutor but in court Wednesday, after almost a month of testimony, it was accepted.

In his opening statement, the prosecutor said Parkes bled to death after suffering 26 stab wounds to her upper body.

Sentencing is scheduled for Friday.
