The second of three storms to hit the B.C. South Coast this week brought strong and, sadly, deadly winds to the region.
Trees and power lines were downed across Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island as winds reached over 80 km/h in some parts. Tragically, one tree fell and killed a 15-year-old boy at Clayton Heights Secondary in Surrey.
The weather eased by Friday evening, making way for a double rainbow over some parts of the Lower Mainland.
While residents will see a break overnight, the third storm is set to approach the South Coast on Saturday afternoon and evening. Global News’ senior meteorologist Kristi Gordon says the storm could be stronger than Friday’s with southeast winds hitting around 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
No weather warnings have been issued yet, but Gordon expects a wind warning will be released by Saturday morning.
