Tire deflation device used by Saskatoon police to end pursuit

A tire deflation device had to be used by Saskatoon police to end a pursuit after the driver of a vehicle tried to evade officers.

Officers initially tried to stop a Pontiac SUV on Thursday at around 8:50 p.m. CT near the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Ruth Street.

Police said the driver refused to stop and took off southbound on Broadway and eventually ended up on Circle Drive.

The driver then headed south on Highway 11.

Police said they used the tire deflation device on a grid road near the outskirts of the city, puncturing the tires of the SUV.

The driver was caught when he drove down a grid road that had no exit.

The 35-year-old man is facing charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and breach of a court order.
