The body of a homeless man who was well-known to city staff and police was found outside the Abbotsford city hall building early Tuesday morning.
Police were called to the scene at 6:30 a.m., where the body was found lying on the ground at the back of the building.
Const. Ian MacDonald of the Abbotsford Police said the man was often seen on the grounds.
“People who had been in and around the Library Square area would come across this individual,” he said. “[He was] very upbeat, very positive, very engaging, and so it’s a difficult circumstance. It’s a tragedy for the city and we’ll do our part and investigate.”
Police aren’t treating the death as suspicious at this time, saying the investigation is still ongoing.
