Just one day after a devastating blaze at a strip mall in Port Coquitlam, one man is in hospital after a three-alarm fire at a home.
Crews were called to the 1600-block of Lincoln Avenue just after 2 a.m. When they arrived they found a homeowner trying to fight the fire with his garden hose.
All four people inside got out safely but the homeowner was brought to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and burns to his hands.
Officials believe the blaze started in a sauna in the basement of the home.
“It was a difficult fire to fight because it was fed by natural gas,” said Deputy Fire Chief Robert Kipps. “Crews were able to shut it down and then suppress the fire.”
