$25,000 donated to Winnipeg football team after they lose everything in a fire

WINNIPEG — In just 24 hours the Oak Park Raiders football team has reached their goal of $25,000 for new equipment after losing everything in a fire Saturday.

The football community and the Winnipeg community came together quickly when they heard about the disaster Oak Park Raiders were left in Saturday.

The Team Manager and Equipment Manager, Kristin Whittaker, showed up at the practice field to find that the entire pod holding the teams equipment had been burned down to the ground. Leaving behind only the charred remains of a porta-potty.

“Thank you just doesn’t seem enough, but simply words will have to do for now,” said Whittaker.

The team had been practicing at Fraser Meadows while their home field was under construction for the last three years.

No word yet one what caused the fire that burned the over $25,000 in equipment yet.
