Ex-husband sought by police in connection with Burnaby murder

An ex-husband with a history of domestic violence is being sought by police in connection with the alleged murder of a 59-year-old woman in Burnaby.

The woman was found in medical stress at a business in the 4500-block of North Road Wednesday morning.

Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says when Burnaby RCMP and paramedics arrived, they found the woman and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Pound says it appeared the woman had sustained some injuries that were “in line with foul play.”

She would not disclose the nature of her injuries as an autopsy will be required to confirm the cause of death.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Hee Sook Youn.

Investigators are now trying to locate the suspect, her ex-husband, who had fled the scene.

Sixty-year-old Youngku Youn is described as 5’7” tall, 143 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

Pound says there is a history of domestic violence within the family.

Youn’s last place of residence was in Pitt Meadows, but investigators don’t know where he is now.

They want people to be vigilant and if they see Youn, not to approach him and call the IHIT tip line or 911 instead.

Pound says no charges have been laid yet.

No other suspects are being sought by the investigators.
