A 31-year-old man is facing serious drug charges after he called police to report a home invasion Thursday night in Halifax.
Officers were called to a residence in the 1000 block of Brenton Street shortly before 10 p.m. for a weapons call.
When police arrived on scene, they say a man informed them that someone knocked at the door of his home and sprayed him in the face with a sensory irritant. The victim was able to run to his bedroom and call for help.
The home invasion is not believed to be a random act. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
Investigators say while at the home, they obtained a search warrant and seized marijuana, cannabis resin, drug paraphernalia and a quantity of cash.
The man, whose name has not been released, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis resin.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 8.
