Province launches campaign for free flu shot

WINNIPEG — It’s another sign that fall is here; it’s almost time to get your flu shot.

The province is launching its flu shot campaign Friday at 11 a.m., hoping to get Manitobans to head to a clinic and roll up their sleeves.

Last flu season, the province said the vaccine was more effective than previous years. This is because the government launched a more robust vaccine, with four strains of influenza (instead of three).

H1N1 became the dominant flu strain in the 2015/2016 season and the virus peaked in the first couple of weeks in March.

Free flu shots will be available through community clinics across Winnipeg from Oct. 25 to Oct. 27.
