A Port Coquitlam mother is speaking out after her daughter was hit in a crosswalk on the way to school.
Oasia Moore was in the crosswalk of Shaughnessy Street and Wilson Avenue Tuesday morning when she says she was hit by a black pick-up truck. She claims the driver looked both ways but then proceeded to drive into her and then took off.
She only received minor injuries but her mother says the intersection is concerning and safety measures need to be taken with a number of schools in the area.
“I’d like to see cameras at the intersection,” said Syreeta Moore. “It’s not going to be the last time this happens. There was a little girl that was killed not very far from here in a hit-and-run and it’s just really scary, it’s so close to home.”
“I just want my kid to be safe when she goes to school.”
The Moores say they have spoken with the RCMP and they are hoping the driver will turn himself in.
