An Okanagan man who shot his girlfriend in the face has admitted to three of the nine offenses he is charged with.

On July 4th, Evan Anthony Swite fired a single bullet from an assault rifle into Mellissa Courchene while the couple was arguing at the home they shared on the Westbank First Nation reserve.
Courchene says she’s lucky to be alive as the bullet, which exited the back of her neck, missed her spine and major blood vessels.

Swite, 28, has pleaded guilty to to criminal negligence causing bodily harm, illegally possessing two guns and possessing a 20 cartridge magazine which is a prohibited device.
He remains in jail and will be sentenced at a later date.
Despite her brush with death, Courchene said she will always love Swite.
