Superior Court Judge Michel Yergeau rejected the taxi industry’s injunction request Tuesday to prevent Uber from operating in the province.
Earlier this month, the provincial government and the ride-hailing service reached a last-minute agreement that would allow Uber to operate in Quebec for one year as part of a pilot project.
Lawyers representing the coalition of taxi drivers argued in court Monday that since the pilot project isn’t in effect yet, the ride-sharing service is operating illegally and without the proper permits.
The ruling comes one week after the industry lost another injunction request. In that request taxi drivers were seeking to have the deal between Uber and the government suspended.

In a written statement, Jean-Nicolas Guillemette, Uber’s general manager in Quebec said he was happy with the ruling.
“We are pleased with today’s ruling and our focus remains on offering a quality transportation alternative under the terms established by the Quebec pilot project.”
The deal is slated to take effect on Thursday.
