Woman dies in Cape Breton crash, man suffers serious injuries

An 18-year-old woman has died following a collision Friday morning in Cape Breton.

Richmond County RCMP responded to the crash just after 8:30 a.m. The woman from Guysborough sustained life-threatening injuries that she later succumbed to, according to a police report released late Friday.

The collision happened on Highway 104 near Louisdale, N.S.

Police say the vehicle was travelling west when it left the road and hit a concrete culvert. The 23-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries. As of Saturday morning there was no update on his condition.

An RCMP collision analyst was called to the scene to investigate the cause, and the investigation is ongoing.
