Nova Scotia hockey hero Sidney Crosby is one of six “Great Canadian Forwards” highlighted in the fourth issue of Canada Post’s five-year NHL stamp series.
In a release sent out Friday, Canada Post says these new stamps are meant to “highlight some of the greatest goal-scorers ever to play in the NHL.”
Featured players include Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman; Edmonton Oilers’ Mark Messier; Guy Lafleur, who played with the Montreal Canadiens; Phil Esposito, known for leading the Boston Bruins to two Stanley Cup Championships; Maple Leafs centre Darryl Sittler and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

“This talented group of star forwards has contributed to our national story beyond the goals they’ve scored and the trophies they’ve won,” Canada Post president and CEO Deepak Chopra said in a release.
“They are heroes for what they stand for. They are men of honour and character and represent the best of who we are as Canadians.”
The six players represent five Canadian provinces, and as a whole, they scored more than 3,800 goals and 5,700 assists in around 8,300 NHL games.
Eighteen Stanley Cup Championships have also been won between the six of them.
