Police searching for 2 suspects after 1 injured in Toronto payday loan shop shooting

Police are searching for two suspects after a 38-year-old man suffered serious injuries in a shooting at a payday loan business in Toronto’s Downsview neighbourhood.

Toronto police responded to a report of a robbery and multiple shots being fired around 11:45 a.m. Friday at a Cash Shop in the Keele Street and Keelegate Drive area.

Police said the man was shot as he exited the business and two suspects were seen running from the area. A description of the suspects was not immediately available.

Paramedics said they transported a man in his 30s to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police said he was conscious and breathing at the scene.

Several schools in the area were placed in hold and secure, including Blaydon Public School, Downsview Public School and Downsview Secondary School, but those precautions were later lifted.

A Toronto police K9 unit was dispatched to assist officers in their search for suspects in the area.
