WINNIPEG — A man is in hospital in critical condition after a serious assault in downtown Winnipeg Friday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m., police were called on scene on Carlton Street between Qu’Appelle and Ellice Avenues. Police said a man was found with upper body injuries and sent to hospital. A woman was also found with minor injuries and taken to hospital.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
