Saskatchewan RCMP say a collision between a train and truck left two people dead on Wednesday.

Shortly after 11 a.m. CT, Canadian National Railway (CN) police informed RCMP about the crash four kilometres southeast of the community of Tako.

A 66-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. They are from the Unity area but their names have not been released at this time.

Investigators determined that the westbound train struck the northbound truck.

An RCMP traffic reconstructionist attended the scene and the collision is still under investigation.
