Interior Health increases support recovery beds

Interior Health has announced five contracts have been awarded to create 26 additional support recovery beds.

These beds are for people awaiting mental health or substance treatment, or for those returning from treatment who are transitioning to a more stable lifestyle.

Contracts have been signed with ASK Wellness Society in the Thompson-Shuswap to provide beds in Merritt, the East Kootenay Addiction Services Society in Cranbrook, and the Kamloops Society for Alcohol and Drug Services in Kamloops.

Aboriginal beds will be provided by the Ktunaxa Nation Council Society in Cranbrook and the Round Lake Treatment Centre in Armstrong.

These are the first five of ten eventual contracts to provide 57 support beds to communities throughout IH.
