It was nearly a year ago when Hannah, 4, and Dawson, 3, were separated in a Chinese orphanage where the two first met.

Hannah was adopted by the Sykes family in Plano, Texas. And during the adoption process, the family noticed Hannah’s close bond with Dawson.

Photos of Hannah sent by the adoption agency to the Sykes usually had Dawson in the frame, too.

“He was on my heart,” said Sharon Sykes in an interview with CBS. “Really, I couldn’t stop thinking of him.”

So she posted Dawson’s photo on Facebook in a plea for anyone to help find him a loving home forever.

Through a mutual friend, Amy Clary saw the Facebook post. Within minutes, she and her husband Christopher decided to add Dawson to their brood of three children.

Sykes called Dawson’s adoption a “miracle” and “an answer to a prayer.”

Once separated by an ocean, Hannah and Dawson are now living just five minutes apart and closer than ever.

“They had so little connection, and so little consistency [in the orphanage], but they had each other for those first formative years,” said Sykes. “[Now] they call each other brother and sister!”
