Montreal cyclist gravely injured in accident in the Plateau

MONTREAL – A 24-year-old cyclist sustained grave head injuries late Monday night when he went through a red light and hit a minivan in the Plateau district.

The cyclist, a male, wasn’t wearing a helmet, Constable Simon Delorme of Montreal police added.

The minivan was headed south along Saint Urbain St. about 11:45 p.m., when the westbound cyclist struck its left side at Milton St.

Police fear for the man’s life, Delorme said early Tuesday.
