Police have laid another charge against a teenager involved in a fatal collision earlier this month in Saskatoon.
A charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death was laid when the teenager appeared in court Tuesday morning. The accused turned 18 years old while in custody after the crash.

“As investigators of these collisions, we can’t just show up to the scene and determine who’s at fault, lay the charges and wipe our hands of it. There’s a lot of questions that need to be answered, traffic collision analysis to be done,” said Saskatoon police spokesperson Kelsie Fraser.
She said the time between the collision and the new charge is relatively quick, given it was a fatal crash.
The multi-vehicle crash happened in the southbound lane of Circle Drive between Attridge Drive and 108th Street on Sept. 7.
Preliminary investigation determined that a vehicle travelling northbound on Circle Drive struck a zoom boom. The northbound vehicle then crossed the median and struck a southbound vehicle.
The 70-year-old man driving the southbound car was pronounced dead on scene.
Following the crash, the 17-year-old driver was taken to hospital. He was later released into police custody and charged with two counts of breach of probation and breach of undertaking.
